I am contemplating moving from Long Island to Florida, possibly Parkland.
Does anyone have experience with specials education services (disabilities) in the elementary public schools in Florida, in general, and Parkland areas, in particular. Specifically, whether any particular neighborhood schools are better than others for the purposes of receiving special education services. Any info is appreciated. Eric |

My middle son enrolled in the Broward School system (Weston) with an IEP from NJ. I took his paperwork with me to registration, and because it was a recent evaluation, they accepted it without any problems at all. I was very happy with the services he got in Weston, and I'm sure Parkland will be fine. Honestly, it was much more of a hassle getting my youngest into a gifted and talented program in FL. I was told they were "full". Huh? I think the key is to make sure your child isn't due for an evaluation right after you move. That can take a while. Our school in NJ actually pushed my son's up a bit to make sure that wasn't the case for us.
