Thanks for everyone's input, ya'll brought a lot of support to my speculations of the job and pay offer. I'm going to go for the interview, but I'm looking elsewhere too.
So onto the next step... anyone have good suggestions of places that are willing to take on fresh graduates with 1 year or less applicable experience in the PR/Communication/Marketing fields? Preferably in Florida, anywhere in FL (doesn't have to be Ft Lauderdale)....

C'mon guys, have you seen entry level pr/marketing positions in NYC!!?? They can range from 28k to like 45k!! * AND* the cost of living in NY is ridiculous!
It is just not a super high paying job unless you have years under your belt.

Based on your experience ( freshly graduated) your options are some what limited for pay. But as we mentioned on previous threads, get your foot in the door and see if you can move forward to other positions.
The company that I work for does not pay greatly for new employees with limited experience. But after you get in you can move and negotiate better salaries within 5 months....
Ask about advancement opportunities within and how soon can you post for another job...

if u r trying to start a corporate career DO Not Move to South FLorida, complete waste of time. If u want to party with sketchy people get on the first flight to miami, lauderdale or palm beach.

The more I research, the more it seems I won't even get by making that much.

I know firsthand that it is IMPOSSIBLE to live alone on $24k in south florida! Even with a roommate it's still like being in college in a sense that you'll be broke and barely able to pay your bills much less have any money left over for anything else... so yeah if that's cool to you take the job at zimmerman, you'll get experience and most other agencies won't even call you for an interview with no experience...
good luck!!!

Zimmerman is one of the few ad agencies in south florida that actually produces any tv advertising. If you don't care about working on TV or not, then good luck trying to get a job at another agency. Crispin (CPB) has moved most of its creative dept. to Boulder, Co... mostly account service and management left in Coconut Grove.

I interviewed there several years ago. It seemed like a sweatshop - very long hours. Try to get as much $ out of them as you can to make it worth your while. Good luck!

Any job within advertising at a busy and successful agency is going to require long hours. It is the nature of the beast!!
