Default Hollywood, FL

My wife, child and I are considering relocating to the Hollywood, FL area from NY. I am considering a job at a business at South Ocean Drive. My little girl is 8.

We live a pretty reserved lifestyle. Our main concern is making sure she is in a good school (public). Secondarily, I would like a short commute to work (15 mins or so) so I can spend more time with them.

Since I will be new to the area, we are most likely looking to rent. $1600-$2000 range for a 2 BR/2 Bath. I would like to buy but don't feel comfortable enough with the area to do that (I don't think). On Craigslist I see a lot in that price range.....but most appear to be big high rises, which we don't really want. A gated garden condo community with some amenities (pool) would be great.

Given my desires, does anyone have any suggestions? I have read a lot of the posts but get confused with all of the different areas mentioned. Thanks

The Radius Building on Hollywoods "Young Circle" would be a good start. This Building is directly on the Young Circle Arts Park [child and pet friendly], and there is a "A" rated charter school [Hollywood Art and Science] on the park as well, you would be about one mile from work.
