Remember when...?
I saw this on the NC forum I read and thought it would be nice over here too. Maybe even borderline depressing for those long-timers (like me).
So off I go to reminsce (sp?)
Remember when...
...Markham Park was known as Markham Park and Zoo
...Spyke's Grove (on Griffin Road) had various animals, including their bear
...the Cooper City McDonald's (one on Griffin) first opened and had a place outside where you could tie up your horse
...Hibbs Grove actually had orange trees instead of houses
...Castle Park and the original Grand Prix (can't remember the original name, but located on 441 south of 84)
...Six Flags Atlantis
I'm not going to list all of the ones that I remember. I'm sure that once others are listed, my memory might be jogged a little more.
Ok people...let's go for it!

When I moved here in '87, my apartment in North Lauderdale was within walking distance of a large "U-Pick-'Em" farm that grew and sold a variety of produce. My mom and dad bought some tomatoes there and raved about them for weeks after they went back up north. The location was the south side of McNab Road, across from Hampton Pines Park. I haven't been out that way in quite a while and wonder whatever became of that farm. There were always rumors about a housing development being built on the site.

I think I remember hearing something about that in the news in the last several months. I thought that Wal-Mart was eyeing the site but then changed its mind. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Remember when cities had their own police departments, and BSO did not have much or do much.

Do you remember that Blockbuster Entertainment game place with video games and such. I remember going there in like 1994 or 1995. It was off of 595 around Plantation or more West. It was right off the exit.

Anyone remember the waterslide in Pompano on US 1, just south of Sample? And that round spaceship-like building at Sample & US1 that was a huge game room and later a strip joint? And what was the name of that gift shop just north of US1 in LHP that was built like a huge A-frame?
