By the time you pay for gas to go back and forth between Weston and Wilton Manors, you could afford another $250 for rent. What about the Nova area? I'm not sure what the zip is there in order to check, but there should be many apts opening up as students leave the area. I can't imagine anything there being nearly as expensive as the Weston area.

There is nothing there for 700 a month. The 1 bedrooms in that area are starting at around 850 a month and you can find 1 bedrooms in Weston for 900 a month in Bonaventure or 84 South (technically Sunrise but shares more in common with Weston). The relative deals by Nova are mostly for 2 or 3 bedrooms probably because of the college influence. Actually you can find a really, really raunchy place on the other side of Davie Rd for 750, on the side closer to Hollywood, although that strip of cheap apartments in Davie that I ran into doesn't even look like it belongs in Broward (looks like Opa Locka), let alone Davie...

You really have to look east for a cheap apartment that might actually be decent and I think Wilton Manors is the best option if he can't exceed 700 a month.

Default Consider a roommate!

Hey

I know a few people that moved to Weston because of the great location, easy access to expressways, and great area. Many of them are still in their twenties and decided to rent a 2-3 bedroom with roommates. You can get a nice 2 bedroom in Weston for around $1300. You could possibly split that with a roommate and be in a good spot (w/o living in the trailer or efficiency as someone mentioned).

Look at Racquetclub apartments and Coconuts townhouses.

I don't live far from either complex and I will step in and say those are both nice choices for the price. Actually, I'm not a huge Coconuts fan. I looked at them and thought the construction was kind of tinny. Racquet Club is older but better construction. Some of those places are really decked out on the inside!

The only area that is remotely close to "bad" in Weston is a few (not all) small strips of condos off of Bonaventure Blvd. There are a few lower income families that live 2-3 families to 1 condo. That does not make them bad people, they are just poor but don't want to live in Hialeah, in fact those people are very humble and just try to do the best they can. That is pretty much the only "poor" area in Weston. The elementary school for the area that I am talking about happens to be the number one in the whole state and US Blue Ribbon status, that should tell you something.
