Question Moving to weston, Ft Lauderdale

I am moving to Ft Lauderdale in june, with my workplace in Weston.

I am looking for a 1BR for rent in and around Weston.

What will be the good areas to stay and look out for.
My preferences are, a peaceful locality, not far from city, should be able to commute to weston in 10-15 minutes.

My Range is round 600$-700$

your price range is going to be a tough one to meet ! Maybe an efficency at that price, but I doubt you will find a decent 1 bedroom apartment for that price.

There are apartment complexes within Weston but you will not find anything at that price range. If you live in Weston, your commute will be quite short. I know some people who don't even own a car as they work at American Express and walk from the apartments. This is something to consider.

Take a look at renting a room in the area, as this is also a possibility. If this is not something you want to do, then you may have to go to an area east of Weston, longer commute and even then I am not certain if you will find something in that price range.

All I have to say to that price range is good luck...you might be able to find a studio but finding a studio in Weston for any price range is challenging. The cheapest 1 bedrooms in Weston are around 900 a month.

Anyway, you are going to have to look east in that price range and face the commute. I found this one on craiglist in Wilton Manors that looks decent.

Wow! Lots of green space, near Wilton Manors

I went on Realtor.com and put in all the Weston zips, and some Davie, Plantation, and Pembroke Pines zips, and I don't think this is right for you, but it's a great deal for somebody even if it backs up to a busy street (Stirling). With mobile homes renting at $750, this is a steal. It is a quick 5 minutes to Weston too.Rentals - 15011 Norfolk LANE, Davie, FL, 33331 - Realtor.com

Rentals in that price range will be hard to find in any decent neighborhood in SW Broward.

Hello! I am looking to move into Oakland Park, just north of Oakland Park blvd, in between Dixie and North Federal. I have heard that it's an okay area, it's about 2 minutes west of the Coral Ridge Mall, can anyone give me any insight? I am really new to this and possibly blind, but I am not sure how to start a new thread. Thanks so much!

Ahaneo, the commute to/from Wilton Manors will be in the 25 minute range and you are heading the opposite direction of the traffic, so backups won't be an issue. Even with an accident it should only take 30 minutes as there are tons of alternate routes to take. Also, if it matters, that area is almost exclusively homosexual, more so than any other city in the US (even more than West Hollywood, CA). IMO that is actually a plus because they really cleaned that area up (used to look more like neighboring Oakland Park).

Hailieboo, that particular section of Oakland Park is perfectly fine, but just realize what you are getting in to when you go west of Dixie Highway. There is a lot of sleaze going up Oakland Park Blvd too, especially at night. I think you will be fine if you stay east of Dixie but my suggestion would be to visit and take a good look at the surroundings, and see if it's too close for comfort. If you can't visit, I would just pass altogether and not take the chance.

And to make a new thread, just enter the Ft. Lauderdale forum, and near the top of all of the other threads, just click "New Thread" and write away!
