Well, the local news here is broadcast not only to Broward, but Miami and the Keys as well. That's millions of people who are here from every corner of the world. That's a pretty large sophisticated town you're talking about. I don't see any reason why the news here shouldn't be as high a quality as the news in NYC.

And I still remember the days of Rick Sanchez standing behind his map of the island of Cuba...

I have a friend who was a video editor for WSVN. They only paid him $7.50 an hour as though they were doing him a favor by hiring him. He's now at NBC in NYC making over $100K a year. You get what you pay for...

I don't read the paper, but I am glad that the Sun Sentinel did this, it is better to be aware of what is going on, than be unaware of it. I hope this helps get the word out to people, to always be aware of your surroundings (even in your own driveway).

There's no danger at the Coral Square Mall. It's like any other typical suburban mall in South Florida.

I think it's good that the newspaper covered this and had this on the front page. It's a reminder to us...BTW, there seems to be a lot of creepy people at malls and in grocery stores. Malls have become (in many ways) the "main street" of our towns. What does this tell us? Neighborhoods change quickly and these mall parking lots are isolated - or, we are isolated when we go into them. Interesting fact in the paper that most of these violent acts happened during daylight hours. Also, people need to be alert and smart. Today, some creepy guy was following me and my kid in a Publix. He did not have a cart and pretended to get stuff, then would put it back. He didn't see that my husband was also there -- when my husband stepped in stride with me, he still didn't back off. We told the store manager.
