It's a running trend. Someone I once dated while in college (mid 90s) was making the same per hour. I think he was a floor assistant or something during the newscasts. He had a bachelors degree as well. He worked for the illustrious Channel 10. The running joke around there was that the call letters (WPLG) stood for We Pay Less Guys.
I would think he's making a heck of a lot more money now.
