My company is moving me to Fort Lauderdale from NYC. I'm looking to rent a 2bed - 2bath apt for me, my wife and 6 month old daughter. We're looking for something a little more upscale, safe, young family / professional, not too 'studenty' (if possible), easy access to all etc etc - but don't want to pay more than $1700/month. Any suggestions as to where to look and what areas to avoid? Thx!

1700 a month? If you are in that price range, don't worry about "studenty"! Your well into 3 bedroom territory. You might even find a 2 bedroom on the beach for that price. Basically, look everywhere east of US1 for the beach thing and west of University Dr. for the suburbia thing. Your criteria is that broad. For a suburb my pick would be Weston, and out by the beach my pick would be Lighthouse Point or the Galt Mile area in Ft. Lauderdale.

1700 a month. Where should they move, Tampa? Wyoming? If they stay within those (very broad, may I add) boundaries I mentioned their criteria is well met.

![]() Seriously, if you're getting paid good money, and want to do the whole beach thing, you might like it. It depends on the type of person you are. Rent, dont buy...(I may have shot down a realtor's attempt to make money off you..Oh well.. ). The same advice I give to people I take for myself. Visit, visit, visit...Go different times during the year, see if you and your wife like it, and take it from there. |

Im not all that bad am I ?
lol....I think I'm pretty fair in assessing my situation and others' that may have similar needs. The universal approach is the same wherever one goes. It's funny how we are so dynamic and constantly move around, and will never be 100% satisfied with relocating. All places have their ups and downs. It's wether we are able and willing to deal with the cons of any situation. |
