Hey guys! I was wondering how the area immediately around Deerfield Beach HS is? I'm not inquiring about living there. I was just wondering how safe the commute would be to make a one time commute to take the SATs at 7:45AM. It's at 910 SW 15th Street, unfortunately in that area right in between I-95 and Dixie. I'm from Palm Beach County, and that was the closest location I could get. Are there any roads there that should be avoided at that time of the day? It didn't look all bad on Google Earth. I was thinking about taking I-95 to SW 10th and then taking FAU RESEARCH PARK BLVD to SW 15th St. All help is appreciated!

My son took his SAT's there also. There are tons of people there. It was packed when he did it last year. You will be fine.

Thanks! I've heard some pretty awful things about Deerfield Beach on here (though I've heard the same things about Boynton, Lake Worth, and Lantana and I've never had a problem in those areas).

For what it's worth, (unbelievably) the crime rate in Deerfield is lower than Boca Raton. At least that's what the stats said in 2007. I have a hard time believing it, but I guess it makes sense. No, the area around Deerfield HS isn't too bad, just try not to wonder towards on the side roads Pompano and your cool. Actually nowhere in Broward is as bad as the bad sections of Lake Worth or Boynton, so if you made it through that and you have any street smarts, don't worry about Deerfield at all, but of course be aware of your surroundings. The "bad" part of Deerfield is fine during the day, but at night yes, the character of the area between Dixie and 95 changes significantly. During the day you may have the occasional homeless panhandler if you chose to wonder around the seedier areas, but not by the high school.
