I'm feeling the same way. I heard they have Hispanics in "the big city" though. I should just move to an hour outside of Chattanooga via four-wheeler and be around friendly people. My soul, it's all their fault!!!!!!!!

I hope you enjoy sticking your head in the red clay dirt a little better, although honestly I think yours might be stuck up somewhere more explicit. You don't seem very nice or pleasant at all to be talking about "nice people"...
You don't know me from Adam. Don't judge me. You sound as friendly as bull on steroids yourself. Get a life.

I already mentioned that I misread your post, are you that dense, besides being so rude? You're a part of the problem here, so you should move to a big city. You'll fit right in with that nasty attitude. Drive carefully now.

I am from NYC originally. If you think NYers are rude, then I can gather that you have never been to that city or any big city. Probably watched sex and the city and thought that what the "big city" is like. NYC, I knew all my neighbors, they actually spoke. We had block parties and so on and so on. Contrast that with south florida where no one speaks to each other. The problem with S. Florida is, it is VERY transient. Hard to build a real community when people are moving every so often. Couple that with the car culture here and no one has any reason to really speak to each other.

Smile Block parties

When my kids were little, I would take them to the park in our neighborhood. We then got a play group going one day a week for 2 hours or so.

One day, I ventured that we should all get together on a Sunday - all the families, husbands, wives, everyone. Well, they all stared at me. (You're joking, right?) I did it anyway at my house, on my street and they all came!

It turned out to be a yearly event after that. 19 years later, we laugh about it and yes, many of them are still my neighbors.

I have no language issue because I can converse fluently in Spanish, no traffic issue because I work from home.

My issue with southeastern Florida is that, despite receding housing prices, the price levels are still too high, especially in view of the lack of quality of house, even in the $350,000-$700,000 range, in my view; lack of creativity by builders here, at least compared to the northeast US and other places.

Other than that, and the bloated property taxes that come with it, I can tolerate just about all of southeastern Florida's negatives, even the humidity, as long as I have enough income to comfortably pay the electric bill (but with a low gasoline bill, no serious complaint here).

I just wish the place had had better residential architects and builders over the years, even relatively expensive houses are butt-ugly, not to mention zero-lot lines for the newer housing.

Yes, there was a shortage of housing, but how they went about it in the 2003-2006 period made only a small dent for a few on the upper end and worsened the situation for most others.

But that reflects how most of the country has gone over the past few years anyway.

Good luck!

How is that possible? Almost everyone in S FL is from NYC, so how can all the ppl in NYC be so kind, and not the ones in S FL? Did we get the bad batch?

Miami 2007 Temperatures
60s - 6 days
70s - 45 days
80s - 245 days
90s - 68 days

So that is 313 days in the 80s or 90s in 2007, which to me is Hot and Humid weather. If we had 4 months of this I could handle it, but we have it for 10 month a year basically.
Florida's weather is too hot. Why not move up to north?
Here in New Jersey we have 4 seasons. Summers are Hot & Humid with temperatures into the 80s

The rudest people I have come in contact with have been native Floridians. *shrugs*
