Mandarin and Spanish? Why not just learn English? Or is S FL considered America anymore?

Just what I'm talking about.

Reminds me of a joke I heard when in Belgium:

"What do you call someone who speaks three languages?"
-Tri-Lingual

"What do you call someone who speaks four languages?"
- A Polyglot

"What do you call someone who speaks only one language?"
-I don't know, what?

"American."

Welcome to the global economy, soon you'll need to catch up with the rest of the world and learn how to communicated in various languages.

Enjoy Chattanooga, you will fit right in.
Hello, those statistics are vague, not accurate and almost 4 years old now. Four years ago, it was still decent here, but over the last two years it has become unbeable for most of us with brains. And, you're right, I love Chattanooga. It's a completely different world up there. The residents are actually nice! Get your head out of the sand, and in a few years when you say "Gee, U4ic was right, it's a mess down here." I won't be around to tell you, "I told you so!" Good Riddance.

Being a 1st generation, non-white American, I love how white people think that they're REAL Americans.

RIGHT... Keep thinking that, just make sure you're teaching your grand-kids Spanish and Mandarin!

BTW, Florida was Native American, then Spanish. Why not move to Hawaii and complain about the natives there too? So you can feel like you're living in REAL America.

Living in your Evolution-hating, God Fearing, Bible Thumping, Gay Hating, Anti-"Illegal" Immigration, Fox News Watching, Football Loving America!

Remember, you're not racist. Just "careful".

Don't forget: Mandarin and Spanish.

That's a really interesting point of view from someone who's only lived here for two months and said, in part:

love South Florida, the women here are gorgeous, the weather is always nice for a 8 o'clock stroll along the beach and I've never had my pickings at so many preforclosures since moving down here.

Can't complain about the hispanics since, I'm not around many up here in Palm Beach County.

Can't complain about the rude people since, I'm most likely one of those northerner transplants who everyone is blaming for the rudeness.

Can't complain about the diversity since, I don't really give a crap one way or the other...

Can't complain about the crime since, no crime where I live, and that's a long way from my humble beginnings in Jamaica Queens, NY.

Can't complain about bad schools since I don't have any kids...

Can't complain about no jobs since... Well, to be honest I do most of my business in Jersey, Chicago, DC, New York, and Philadelphia...

Can't complain about there being nothing to do since, I'm too busy working to notice what there is to do other than go out to eat.

Can't complain about terrible traffic since, well I avoid rush hour and everything is fine! (Plus the Florida Turnpike is a godsend...)

I notice you chose to move not even to WPB per se but to a gated community further west, as you told us.

As the wife of a true immigrant one who had to spend $5000.00 for an immigration lawyer way back in 1976, who got not one cent of funding from our government, who in fact tried repeatedly to kick him and his relatives out....I'm quite familiar with the attitudes of immigrants who appreciate everything America has to offer. Preposterous to think that his demographic would be insisting that an entire city speak Greek only and sport a license plate saying they were here first (for example).

Tell me about immigration when you know someone who lived in the basement of a restaurant for 2 years straight washing dishes day and night, and who jumped the ships 4 times until they got to stay, after paying for a marriage. This would be our cousin who since those days has been a military officer in Colorado Springs. NOT protesting like a dope for his causes in the streets or insisting on license plates about Greeks or insisting that the freaking town of Colorado Springs speak Greek lol.

The Spanish are no different than any other demographic who "used to live" somewhere and there is no universal law that says that you get to reinvent a territory just because you occupied it for awhile. As I'm sure you've noticed from the Middle East....or is that a different situation?

And as far as Chicago and NY go, they bear no resemblance whatsoever to Miami. Or Weston.

Why, because you don't like them? If anything more middle class to wealthy Hispanics have poured in from Venezuela considering recent politics there, and no they don't just move to Weston like you suggest. How do things change that much in four years beyond a single "upscale water[puddle]front" neighborhood? I hope you enjoy sticking your head in the red clay dirt a little better, although honestly I think yours might be stuck up somewhere more explicit. You don't seem very nice or pleasant at all to be talking about "nice people"...

You are right, it is a different world up there, I lived in NC. And although a native of FL, this state isnt what it used to be like. It used to be what NC and TN are now... I truly miss the kindness that the people up there have. I have been telling folks that it is by far much different up there, and how many people up there are so nice (many of which are native Floridians). I live in Orlando, and trust me, Orlando is right there with S FL now when it comes to rude folks.

South Florida is no longer diverse, it has been overrun by Hispanics that refuse to learn English. They are rude, poor, nasty and have no regard for the standard of living we are used to in South Florida. They keep farm animals on their propery leave grocery shopping carts all over the neighborhood and pack 25-30 family members into a 3 bedroom house, just to pay the rent. It's utterly disgusting here. I've sold my house and I'm outta here in 3 weeks. Crime is rampant and the police and code enforcement are useless.
reading comprehension not your strong suit eh? If you had paid attention to what I said, you would have gathered that I do not hate S. Florida, and hating it here has nothing to do with why I want to leave. I want to leave because I prefer a big city and what a big city has to offer. I then went into explaining what inparticular about a big city I prefer hence the mention of a train system.
