Still a nice neighborhood. My friends who live in Embassy Lakes have kids at Pioneer Middle and Cooper City HS. I am not sure about the elementary.

I moved to CC in 1992 because of the schools. My son went from K-12 through the schools, except he went to Griffin instead of Embassy. I have said it before and I will say it again, CC schools are the better of all the evils. They may be "A" rated, but that does not make them great schools. There is a high level of partying starting at the middle school level, although many parents have the "not my kid" mentality.

The neighborhoods in CC are nice, most people take pride in their homes. Even though Embassy is gated, there was always some kind of break in to cars and homes. I think alot were kids who had nothing better to do.

Even though I don't live there any more, CC has had some major internal issues going on the last couple of years with it's government leaders . It has not been pretty.

Good Luck!

I'll agree with everything else that has been said. I grew up in Cooper City and have fond memories. From everything that I've researched, Embassy Creek Elementary is the best of all the elementary schools.

The city code enforcement can sometimes be a bit overbearing, but it's a cakewalk compared to how HOAs can be.

I'd still highly recommend it as a place to call home.

Hi, all. We're thinking about relocating to Southern Florida from New Jersey for the prepaid 529 Plan (we have a 6 1/2 year old son and twin 3 1/2 year olds). I've checked out the schools in Broward and Dade -- it seems that Cooper City or Davie make the most sense for Southern FL. Does anyone have a different opinion about that (i.e., is there another area we might look at as well)? We probably won't move for 1-2 years, but I was thinking about buying something now because the prices are definitely better than 2 years ago. But they're still higher than we'd like, and it's frustrating because a 3000+ square foot house in FL has much less living and storage space than our NJ home due to no basements here.

Does anyone have any opinion about whether we'd be taking a "step back" educationally to move from NJ to Florida? I'd also like to hear thoughts about whether it might make sense to wait another 6 months to a year due to the current market conditions to get better prices.

Thanks!
