So, is it time to get my 50 acres? It's happened before but not in years...

expect to hear more of this sort of ridiculous thing as the economy worsens.

Burglary is one thing but the burglar robbing the homeowner when he walked in instead of running is another thing. There is of course a decent chance that the robber knew the homeowner and it was all planned out (that's how it usually works in areas not known for those kinds of crimes), but time will tell.

not really, happens all the time in home invasions. People can expect more of this.

Yeah but 99% of the time if the homeowner walks in to a burglar the crook FLEES that scene like a cockroach. That kind of aggression from burglars HAPPENS but it's not very common although you see a trend of it becoming more common over the past couple of years in places like Orlando and Atlanta. Home invasion robberies were invented down here in Miami in the mid 80s yet they haven't really caught on in Broward since the late 80s (still happens daily in Dade). Granted they happen (as seen here) but most (key word not ALL) "random" property crime is typically still run-of-the-mill burglaries without any desire for confrontation. What I'm wondering is if we are going to jump on the random home invasion train like the rest of the Sunbelt is or if this is just an isolated "knew the guy" or drug money incident like they typically are in this area.

I'm from Weston, but I don't know where this Garden Road is. Does anyone know what neighborhood this happened in?

I think it's in the Country Isles area.

Country Isles. It's by those patio homes. Not exactly a ghetto but they have been having car burglars there.
