Default Will the snowbirds still come this Fall?

Given the bad economic news we hear every day, what are the opinions of people on this forum whether this will affect snowbirds this Fall.
A great many business's rely on the extra business they bring to the area.

I think it really depend. The snowbirds that rent a place from someone I know for the winter months in the keys are not coming down this coming year. They have come down for the last 7 years.

I think they will come after the election. Once you get used to leaving the cold behind it's hard to weather the winter. Best wishes to all!

Default why not?

I don't think it will affect most of the snowbirds who come year after year -- you can be broke down here just as easily as you can up north! only more comfortable down here!

They will come. During the mid to late 1970's there was a gas crisis and poor economy. People came here, anyway. Compared to other sunny & warm vacation spots in the islands, there are some good vacation values in Broward for families. I think it will be a cold and depressing winter for our Snowbird friends up north - they will come here.

Heating fuel will be at record prices - they'll even be able to rationalize that they'll save money wintering down here!

I know S.Fl, especially Broward, is heavily dependent on tourism. Does anyone have a resource/data that shows the number of jobs related to the tourism industry?

FYI, wikipedia shows that the boating industry provides 108,000 jobs in the county. I thought that was a lot.

They will come.... perhaps not as many.

The Canadians will come.....

I also I think more Europeans will come as they get more "bang for their buck". The weak dollar is helping them out
