What would you say the top 5 words/phrases to describe Fort Lauderdale would be?
Classy (rich, gated homes and streets the closer you get to the ocean)
Trashy (sleazy adult stores on every corner in the mainland) Middle-ground (less interesting than Miami and West Palm Beach, and in-between both) Brown (because a lot of areas have that bland, brown "Broward County" look to it) Lodi-dodi (because 'Lodi' sounds a lot like the 'Lauderdale' part of the city's name). |

Would be nice with at least one positive comment - there must be some reason that people stay and live here (please dont say its just the weather and the beach
). |

heakja,
I guess the word would be depends. Myself, I happen to like it here very much and for a professional with a good income it can be a very exciting place to live. It has great beaches, pro sports, love going to Miami Hurricanes games no matter if they win or lose, and some great dining. Everything is relative, you have easy access to anywhere in the world via international airports and your right in the middle between palm beach and miami. I see a lot of negatives on this board but most of the stuff is really only applicable if you just really don't have the means to live here. Look, if you have an education, not in basket weaving or other useless degrees, most professional jobs here pay very well and the cost of living is not really that bad. My thought is that most of the complainers must be non-degreed workers or in the low end service jobs for which I will agree pay very little in Florida. As they say you gotta pay to play and if you have a good career you can live very well here and there is a lot to enjoy. For those who say crime and immigrants are a problem (lol), they must be from flyover states because they sure as heck have never lived in a big city i.e. NY, Chicago, etc. if they think things are bad here. Just my opinion and take it for what it's worth. ![]() |
