Some people take this way too personally. News flash: Standing up for south Florida benefits no one. Critically analyzing its faults will bring improvement. If "white" people are leaving, it is because the standard of living here has been degraded. American-born and raised people generally do not like to be crammed into shoeboxes stacked on top or next to each other that eat up 50% of your income or more. Third-world cultures may find this acceptable. If the word gets out that FLL is a bad place to live with a rotten economy people will flee and things will change. The end result will be positive. Remember, opposites attract and if everyone acts like things are always positive, they will turn negative.

I think that can be said for any group that wants to improve their lives, and what they want for their families, not just whites. It all depends on people. Some can deal with living in an overcrowded area, while others can't or may not want to. Let's look at NYC for example, you have all groups stacked up on top of each other, as you say, (that being White, Black, latino or Asian for example) in a small area. But I understand your latter point.

I disagree. What are you basing your assumptions on that thinking negative turns things positive, and vice versa? The key is to remain vigilant and REALISTIC about the problems you face while working to attract and keep good elements in your community to push out the bad.
In fact, if "good" people are scared away from moving to an area based on the uninformed (or underinformed opinions) of malcontents, then an area is only going to get worse.
After all, when people "flee," so too goes tax revenue for the upkeep of infrastructure, schools, jobs, etc., in a downward spiral that can take DECADES to crawl out of (or never).
You can buy a house in detroit (an area with "problems" that all the "good people" left) for $20,000.00.... but nothing has "changed." Detroit's reputation precedes it, and things AREN'T improving. Nothing has "gotten better" for all the focus on Detroit's problems, and when the good people leave and only the riff raff they "fled" from remains, an area is lost indefinitely until land becomes precious again and the monied start gentrifying a neighborhood, like in Harlem.

Well put. I agree completely. Can't even think of anything to add, which for me is truly a rarity! Rep given...

He's extremely biased, and he's the last person I would want to get advice from if I were moving down here (or for just about any question at this point). You like it, good for you. I dont, good for me. This is as simple as ABCs...What's there not to understand?
Let's look at a different scenario, where a person would ask for opinions about a local restaurant. 5 may not like it, 4 may like it...Should that person asking the question in the first place, not eat there because the majority seemed to not like it? NO!! Try it for yourself, and later on you'll have an experience and an opinion to either share or keep to yourself. Based on the 9 opinions you got from the forum, you may have good or bad expectations of the restaurant in question. You can choose to go or not to go...That's the whole point of expression, sharing thoughts, and experiences that some people just dont understand, (YES YOU, CANE FAN ). Does it mean that what I am saying is stopping people from coming down here? NO!! People will continue to come here and ask for opinions, information and such. They will hear good and bad. Thank God you are not a moderator. No one would be able to post under your rule. More like censorship with you. Get mad all you want now.

Hey, that even happened in our hometown of West Palm Beach, prior to them building City Place. Remember how it was all mostly crime and drug-ridden neighborhoods before the transformation?
Needless to say, though, these posts that have nothing to do with the topic itself are going to probably get it locked by a moderator. I don't think the OP posted this with the intention of us arguing about whether an opinion should be posted or not, though I personally welcome all opinions, negative or not.
