Be honest and forthright about being laid off, and your efforts of finding another job. Find out what government programs (computer science) they have that you could participate in and most of all ask if you could see there job listings. They do have job listings but think that they are for students only, not sure but do ask about it. Can you repair computers? I'd try the Geek Squad at Best Buy, or place a listing in the newspaper of what you can do. An ad and a phone is about all you need. One poster mentioned Craig's List. Thats a good place, it sure helped my oldest boy, he was axed from his job with the auto industry in Michigan. You can buy computer parts, clean them and sell them on Craig's list. It's something to tied you over until you get settled.

I did...
I got my A+ and N+ certifications last year from a school that is now closed called PC Professor. Workforce 1 paid for the program.
I have gotten assistance from Vocational Rehab as well, they approved me for a speech device that I wear currently that has really improved on my speech.

Bottom line is buddy, you are trying to live in an expensive area of the U.S. There is more than enough assistance out there if you want it but you need to suck it up, do the hard work and follow through. Get a second job, save for school then take classes at night and work your way up the economic ladder like most people.

I wouldn't call myself a troll, or a attention w___e for that matter but I need to find some improvements and a way to better my situation for myself and my surroundings. I mean, as much as I do complain or I do seem to get depressed I would assume that others in my situation, at my age would probably be feeling a bit of the same as I do and wonder about the future.
But I thank you for your post.

These are my current expenses.
Car payment $186.00 a month
Insurance $144 a month (Allstate)
CCCS (Consumer Credit Counseling Services) $130 a month, I owe abou $4500 left (yes I wasn't careful with my spending at one point)
Exxon Mobil ($300 left) Don't bother ask why I got a credit card for gas it was something I should have never done. The good thing is that I haven't used it in about 4 months and don't plan to ever use it again.
Citibank ($500) The only CC I use and it's only for emergencies only.
Sprint ($60 bucks, Sero plan)
Gym ($9.95)
Rent (Help out my mother, $400 a month) She complains that this is too low but I can't afford anymore at the moment.
Gas (call it $70 bucks to fill up)
So yea, I have some bills and some unwanted debt that I should have never gotten into but the good thing is that I bought a budget guide off the internet for a couple bucks and I try to follow it to a key to get rid of the bills.
As you see, I'm at about $700 a month without living expenses so for me I keep wondering what to do and how to fix it.

A person in your financial situation should not have a car payment. A used $1000 car would eliminate that debt or better yet take the bus and you will eliminate the insurance payment also.

My last car needed major repairs (about 3000 worth) and it was financially worthwhile to keep the car, the car was leaking all types of fluids and so forth and was a total wreck.
I can handle the car payment and insurance, it's the extra debt (credit cards I want to get rid of).

Only windows but my degree is pretty outdated and my experience isn't quite as good yet (less than 6 months) so that's where the problems come from.
What cert are you working on by the way?
FYI, BCC starts on the 18 and I approved for about 3 grand in aid but the job runs through the 26th so I'm trying to see what I should do. Quit the job and run to school asap or stay at the job and try to attend in January.
I realize how important a sound education is, if I can do it over again I would have made sure to have a good degree by the time I turn 22-23. Doing it at 30 something is quite difficult, especially with other bills to take care of.
