Davie, Cooper City or Pembroke Pines???
Hello, would someone be kind enough to give a brief description of these towns? Which is the safest out of these three, and not too high in rent for an apartment? Also, not a racist area, as I heard hate crimes against blacks have occured in davie. I would like somewhere that is away from all that, just peaceful and calm. Thank you for your help

I answered you in the other thread you started, but I figure I'd answer this question here. I think your impression of Davie is outdated, but it has kept Davie from being as diverse racially as Pembroke Pines. Cooper City is actually probably more Hispanic and Anglo and less racially diverse than Davie. There are probably statistics out there that can give you a specific break-down, but I don't have a link for you. Another thing to keep in mind is that all of the neighborhoods down here run into each other, and there are no real boundaries - it's more of just a large suburb. Weston is different in this respect as it is geographically separate, and was developed mostly by the same company (Arvida).

Davie....some bad area's.....some nice area's. GRADE : C
Pembroke Pines....very congested some shady areas as well, but not as bad as Davie. Grade : B
Cooper City : More of a hidden pocket near pembroke pines. Nicer and quieter, but homes are hard to come by for a good price based on my experiences. Grade : A-
As far as racism goes, many crimes are commited by African Americans unfortunately here in South Florida. Yes, hispanics and whites carry out crimes as well, but it seems that everytime you turn on the TV....a black man has commited a crime. Because of that, many people here when they see a black person, their guard automatically goes up and they start thinking bad thoughts. I don't care where you live in South Florida, you will experience some type of discrimination because of the color of your skin. Again, people don't do it on purpose, it's just what they have been conditioned to feel and believe by everything they see on the news every night.

I think Davie is pretty nice. I am curious as to where heydade thinks the bad neighborhoods in Davie are. I think the racist image of Davie is unfair and is based on the distant past. There are many nice neighborhoods in Davie and there are some ugly neighborhoods, but nothing I would consider dangerous. The only thing I really don't like about Davie is that in the eastern part of Davie the planes landing at FLL can be pretty loud. Make sure you spend some time there during the day so you can tell whether this will bother you or not. It's not a problem everywhere in Davie.
Pembroke Pines is very different in the east than it is in the west. Western PP is nice, new and safe. It is also very congested, but can be convenient also. Everything is there. The eastern part of PP is uglier and has more crime than the western part. Overall you really have to look at the specific neighborhoods because much of eastern PP is nice, less expensive and less upscale than the west but not necessarily horribel. BUT-there are some yucky neighborhoods in eastern PP also.
Cooper City is very nice, much like Davie. In certain parts of CC/Davie it is hard to know when you are in CC and when you are in Davie. CC is a little less convenient than Davie but it's more consistent in its look and feel. It lacks the ugly neighborhoods that do exist in Davie (even though there are not to many in Davie they exist).
I hope this helps.

i was asking if any hate crimes were commited AGAINST blacks in davie, not BY blacks. I heard the kkk held klan rallies in davie, which is disgusting and do not want to be living in a neighborhood where that kind of garbage goes on. i think you misunderstood, heydade. Is it true, does the kkk live in davie? If you know of any areas where this occurs please let me know so that i can stay the farthest from it. thanx..

We all read what you said correctly the first time. Read the replies again with that in mind. You have a DATED image of Davie. In fact, the closest KKK to here is probably in Tennessee.

I never heard of hate crimes in S Florida. This is not Alabama. That will not be an issue. Getting robbed, your home broken into, yes, that will be an issue. And as long as you don't have a low class attitude, independent from your race, you should not experience any racism.
If you can afford it, and yes I know you're black, stay away from african american neighborhoods. This is not Washington DC. Many blacks live in regular middle class neighborhoods and they live just fine (I have a couple of black neighbors) and don't have to put up with all the crime from the black/hispanic ghettos. I'm happy for them.
It's a class issue, not a race issue.

Stay out of Davie
I would stay out of Davie. I have know people from there, who still have family there, who are racist. They aren't KKK and wont burn crosses, ect, but don't expect to them smile at you if you drive by.....I would go to P.Pines....and yes, before anyone gets all upset, there are non racist nice people in Davie, I'm just saying, from being in the area for 15 years, I know quite a bunch who are backwards when it comes to race.

I live in West Davie near Weston. No KKK here.. Its very upscale
There are some older trailer parks scattered around but mostly upscale communities...
