The police acted as they should. The question is: you or a family member is attack with a bat, how will you react? Was this a life saving action?
I hope that this action will prevent further crime and greater involvement by parents in controlling their children (this one was 17).
Difficult to answer, but place yourself in the receiving end and give an answer...

Feel bad for the family........ BUT
This guy ran from police once before so he knows the cops are after him.
He didn't want to be arrested so he goes at them as he did.
Great excuse, they though their house was being broken into.
And he wanted to become a law enforcement officer.... HELL NO not with his wrap sheet. Who are they kidding
We've had enough cops killed or hurt in the line of duty in the past year..... Enoughs enough........ They did what they had to do...

I don't feel sorry at all for the family, really. They're all bad news. The mother refuses to open the door twice? The 20 year old older bro and the 17 year old both beat up a landlord for wanting to evict the deadbeat brother?
NOPE, I can only imagine living next to this crew.
I know I keep saying about Philly but really, we don't have all this crazy crap with criminals jumping outside attacking law enforcement with baseball bats. We have crack heads and stuff but I guess our criminals are just better at it and don't get into embarrassing positions fighting arrests LOL. I think in Philly, our criminals would just take the arrest and let the cards fall.
Our criminals have pride in their status LOL.
I think maybe Broward might need to import some urban experienced law enforcement for training or something. That was alot of officers on site for one 17 year old punk who did some serious damage there....I think the Broward law enforcement underestimates the craziness of the people but it probably won't happen again. If that kid had a gun it would have been really really bad....
ETA thats one thing that's worse about Philly crime...lotsa guns lotsa shootings but not of cops so much......

The Medical Examiner said that he had marijuana AND pain killers in his system. They tried to tase him, which is a no no. A bat is a deadly weapon. Shooting him is justified from the get go. If they would have shot him, maybe the two officers wouldn't have been hurt. The bad thing is that the media is catering too much to this case. Hopefully, officers won't second guess themselves when making a split decision because of all the idiots trying to Monday morning quarterback. If someone comes at me with a bat, they're going to get shot.

Again, not enough info to make a judgement. If the suspect actually did swing a bat at anyone they have the right to shoot. If my home was being robbed, I would not be outside with a bat, I would be inside taking aim. If he actually hit a clearly identified police officer they did the right thing by shooting to kill.
