Does renters insurance typically cover damage from storms? Or does it usually cover theft/fire, etc.
I am waiting back for a call, so I am hoping someone here can help.
Thanks!

Yeah I never have luck online, the prices are always outrageous try and use a broker.
My renters covers every single thing inside (and the car, like theft inside). Fire, theft....
Including hurricane damage and wind. There is a deductable for hurricane specifically I think it was 1000.00.You're saying fire I bet because some policies call renters insurance fire insurance I have no idea why. My former state farm called it fire insurance....The thing is that FLOOD is different. I did not get flood because nobody else here has it in this area and it's not one of my major concerns right now. If there's "technical" flooding from a storm. You really have to nail down the water issue with insurance. You can see if you're in a flood area I think from the FEMA map.
It's also very hard to get anybody to give you the accurate assessment of WHAT HAPPENS when there's an event and you file a claim. Like if you need receipts or not. Or if photos are enough, etc. Bunch of slick double talk.
I dont have a video camera but took photos. I have all receipts too since I just moved here. I also suspect that there are limitations say, on something that would need a rider like an expensive watch but this company doesn't do riders on renters policies. I don't plan on leaving my watch unattended while renting LOL.
Remember to raise your deductable if you think your quote is too high, too. Hopefully you'll never have to use it and would be worthwhile.
I have anything important in rubbermaid tubs right now that I don't want to get water damage. This is a new house and I dont know if it's sound regarding leaks. Iff there's a hurricane all the art etc is getting bubble wrapped and going in the interior bath tub LOL. The furniture is getting moved in a pile and under tarps.
I hate cleaning up wet drywall and if it's something I can't easily replace it's leaving here with me or sitting in the bathroom.
My last house sprung a plumbing leak on the 2nd floor once and the entire second floor was almost gone and the drywall ceiling underneath was off, down to the studs. All the drywall was everywhere on my new tile floors, appliances, walls, ENTERTAINMENT CENTER and so forth.
I just walked out. WHAT A MESS. Took a month to clean up and I lost alot of stuff like books and photos....Just mentioning it so you know if you're in FL it is worth it to at least try and prevent water damage the best you can before it happens. Even with insurance.
