I moved to Pompano when I first moved to FL right across from Lighthouse point and it was pretty nice for a bit. Pompano spreads around it isn't like just one block so yes there are some pretty ghetto nasty weird gross areas. But I liked my house. I am moving to Kendall soon so cyaaa. Good luck 2 ya

Default POMPANO kills LAUDERDALE

Anyone remember Ft. Lauderale 20 years ago? The strip, downtown, Holiday park? Can you say Sodom and Gamorah, gay bars, gay beaches, biker bars, dishonest lawmen, men playing with themselfs in the boysroom at Holiday park, yea its all still there, and crime up the tail pipe, from the beach, well what beach, they dont have much, out to lovely Davie road and 441, it was and for the most part is still a getto. Now, they have sugar coated the beach with million dollar condos and at the same time killed the tourist business save one that Ft. Lauderdale draws more gay boys into town than Frisco does, just the town I want to raise my young sons in. I could thred all day on the down side of any city especially Fort Liquordale(hickup) but it aint worth the time, Ive got a beatifull wide open seaoat lined sandunned beach I have to get to and do some kitesurfing, at good old Pompano Beach my beach my town. Just give the pinheads at WCI a few years and our beach will blow Hel Ray out of the water and now its time to surf at the beach

Help! We were considering to move to LHP, as this was more affordable than other areas -- is this bad now, also? What do you think about LHP near the beach for a family? Also, is WCI going to build those condo's in Pompano Beach along A-1-A? We are stuck here for our jobs - kids are already in private school - just want to know about good areas near the beach for families -- I thought that LHP, Bayview, Bermuda-Riveria and Sea Ranch Lakes were still good. Please just share honest opinions

Personally I'm glad that people think that Pompano sucks. Stay the hell away! LOL I've lived on the water in Garden Isles (Federal, Atlantic, Cypress Road, McNab) for 15 years and I love it. The inlet's 20 minutes away by boat. I'm a native here, grew up in Plantation and I still own a home in Deerfield. I very rarely go south of Outdoor World, except on my way to the Keys.

There are good and bad places in every county.

And Lighthouse Point is a really nice area! Beautiful waterfront homes! Great neighborhoods...

My friend had a condo there but the economy forced him to leave and just rent it out. He says he had trouble selling and then he also claims the realtor screwed him. I do not know the full story but I think he enjoys renting so he can still use the property on his own when it's vacant. I visited him when things were better and I had a good time. There was a locally owned breakfast place that was very good and a lot of bars/restaurants were owned by people from PA and NJ so I got along well with a lot of the folks. I doubt if I'd live there and my friend discouraged me. He saw the housing bust/bad economy coming in 06. But, I could see myself going down again for a visit.
