We talk often with people in our company's office in Dayton, Ohio, and they can't believe there's a Skyline down here.
Oh, you MUST try! What I wouldn't give for one of their cheese coneys right now...mmmmmmmmmmm.

Would this by chance be Bucky's friend standing next to me in the attached picture?

Say, LLCG, wasn't Dave Dixon good friends with Crazy Gregg? And speaking of Greg(g)s, whither Greg Budell? I suppose I could look it up, but I'll never forget the day he had a little on-air meltdown and played Matthew Wilder's "Break My Stride" over and over and over.

I miss Neil Rogers -- live long Uncle Neil. Neil God. As for Skyline Chili, I stopped going there in the 90's. I got a large order of regular chili to go to bring to a Super Bowl party -- thank goodness I opened up the container. The chili looked like brown mud -- ugh. Never again.

Neil Rogers was iconic. South Florida will never be the same without him. He got away with on-air stuff that no one else ever could. Heck, they bounced Budell off the air for a week or two just because he played a clip of Jesse Jackson and said "I can't understand what he's saying, can anyone tell me what the hell he's saying?"

While on the subject of media personalities, there were some real powerhouses on the local TV news when I arrived in the late '80s. I missed Ralph Renick by a few years, but my favorite probably was Ann Bishop with Channel 10 -- she was at the height of her career then and she and Dwight Lauderdale (perfect name for this TV market) worked really well together.

I also remember Bryan Norcross on Channel 10 -- he was the No. 2 weather forecaster there at the time and did a feature called "Neighborhood Weather." His career took off a few years later when he became recognized as one of the world's leading hurricane experts for his coverage of Hurricane Andrew.
