Thank you

Please elaborate on your post. I'm all for being PC, just wondering your reasoning to bring up an old thread just for that.

I worked at the hospital back in the day when they opened the childrens unit, I think it was 1966 or 1967, when Murf the surf was a patient.

I am looking to speak with anyone who was a patient, visitor, employee at this hospital anytime between 1956-1959. My Grandmother was a patient here and died here. I have lots of unanswered questions. Please contact me @ antkeddie@msn.com.
Thanks

If it is the same Florida state hospital that is in the news right now. Therearestillsome terrible things going on. NPR this past week had gruesome story of three unreported deaths under investigation. One woman ignored with her head through a wall. One jump from the 8th floor. One death in a bath of scalding hot water.

I worked there as a psychiatric aide and later as a forensic security guard in the 70's. We all have stories about that place.

I worked there at that time. I was on Volusia ward. My parents worked there as well. They had perfect names too, Lura and Harry Nutt. The patients loved them.

Default history: S. FL State Hosp

My grandfather was Assistant Superintendent of that state hospital from 1955 or 56 to 1966. Can't tell you anything about the hospital though as I was a kid then and lived in another state.

I grew up in the Honeywoods development right behind the hospital in the late 80's and 1990's. Right on the opposite side of the canal. People actually used to escape from there and walk through the yards before fences were built. My dad can tell stories of chasing them away from our neighborhood and calling them in.
