I'm coming down there during spring break...I have questions...
I love Ft. Lauderdale. I'm coming down there mid-march with my five year old and three 19 year old boys/men. What are the beaches going to be like?...lots of young people? I expect crowded but is it going to be out of control?
Are the guys going to be able to get into any clubs, adult or otherwise?
Any suggestions of where these guys (who live in the rural mountains of NH) can go to whoop it up would be appreciated...and any beaches that would be suitable for a mom & tot would be great too.
Thanks & have a sunny day...I'm cold

Las olas riverfront and also las olas blvd and a1a - a bunch of bars/clubs but they card for 21 and over...
But they can always go to the beach and i know ft. Lauderdale caters to the spring break crowd so they might meet people who are throwing hotel parties...good luck!

Are the beaches going to be all college students? If anyone can give me the general vibe or what I can expect from 3/14-3/21...and hows the weather & water temp...I've looked at charts, but how about the first hand experience. Thanks.

We've gone to the beach over spring break. Just stay to the south of Las Olas a couple of blocks, and it should be quieter. There is a large playground on the beach, along with restrooms. Pack a cooler, and go early enough to get a spot right in the lot at the beach. It was about 6.00 a day a couple of years ago, but well worth the convenience factor.

Spring break has quieted down some over the years. Still lots to do, but no where near "crazy" like the older days. Between Riverfront and the beach, there should be stuff to do. For more action, South Beach has more going on it seems now a days. As for night action, most clubs are 21 and over, so keep this in mind.

There are lots of folks here in the winter but it's a much calmer winter crowd that it was when I was in college in the 1980s. Try Hollywood Beach for a nice family oriented beach. I like it better than Fort Lauderdale for the mom/tot set. You can walk on the Broadwalk and there are places to get food (bring cash).

Sorry, I'm not in Ft. Lauderdale...but I heard the city is actively DISCOURAGING Spring Break being a big event in Ft. Lauderdale. I'm under the impression the Panhandle or places farther north from Ft. Lauderdale - perhaps Daytona Beach most likely, is where Spring Break is still going on in all its glorious form?
Is that correct? or no?

I've looked at recent photos of Ft. Lauderdale Beach during spring break and although far from trashy hedonism, it seems to be packed with the young and beautiful...coming from the rural mountains and land of wool sweaters, I think the guys with be quite happy & I'll take the previous advice on the mom and tot beaches. Thanks everyone.
