Default Fort Lauderdale- Neighborhood Advice Please

Hi we are a couple in our mid 20's moving to Fort Lauderday in May 09 from London.
Please can you give us some advice on which neighborhoods we should look for an apartment to rent in. We are looking for something around $900 a month. Not toofar from downtown as I will be working in downtown Fort Lauderdale.

And which neighborhoods we should avoid.

Any other advice is also appericated.
Thanks

Take a look at Coral Ridge area. It's close to the beach, close to downtown and some of the best restaurants in the city. I'm just not sure if it is in your price range.

Of course it depends on what you are looking for. But unfortunately I cannot agree with this post. I live south of Oakland Park and North of Las Olas and my neighborhood is beautiful. It is full of people my age and lots of convenient shopping. Close to the beach also and Las Olas is south about a mile. I live in a nice one bedroom apartment for under $700. Yes, it is small, but that was my price range and I did well for it. With 200 dollars more I could have gotten a much larger condo I'm sure.

The previous post leads you to very quiet, residential areas where the older people are plentiful. You say you're in your mid twenties so I think you would want a livelier place and neighbors your own age, right?

I'd say try Oakland park, Coral Ridge, or Victoria Park. I live in the latter and I love it!
