I work in the city and in the summer it is really really nasty here too. sometimes my skin feels like it is going to melt off my bones. You guys have 5 months of really hot weather, we have 5 months of cold and colder weather, guess it all depends on what you prefer the hot or cold weather. I can't say that I love the cold weather, so I hope I like the hot.

It never fails to amaze me that some Florida haters believe that because THEY don't like year round warm weather, every other human being on earth must feel the same way. Hello.....we aren't all alike. Some of us LOVE year round warm weather/HATE snow, freezing temps, wind chill factors, long coats, gloves, winter hats, scarves, slush, sleet, slippery snowy roads, etc. Some of us love to be in single layer clothes, yes, even on Christmas Day.

Can some of you understand that, the same way we understand that YOU hate single season and year round warm weather?

As for the comments about nice and not-so-nice people, my husband and I live in Columbus Ohio and if you want to see R-U-D-E people...come here. They cut you off in traffic and give you the finger as they nearly run you into a wall...everyone is in too much of a hurry to smile at you...and getting a "thank you" at a fast food restaurant is unheard of. I grew up in Tennessee where everyone was so friendly all the time. I miss that! We are possibly relocating to Sarasota for my husband's job (hence the reason I'm on a Florida forum) and hope that it is similar to what Tennessee was like in terms of hospitality.

And Miles...I'm with you. I don't mind the look of snow, but driving in it, wearing layer after layer, having to warm up my car for 20 minutes before going anywhere, having REALLY REALLY high heating bills in the winter, slipping and sliding on the roads etc etc...it's for the birds. But even they fly south for the winter! lol

I think that every state has its own standard of what rude people are. I encounter them on a daily basis here, but I have also encountered them in other places. It might be the magnitude of nastiness that will cause people to think one place is nastier than another. I find it rather funny to hear people from NYC complain about people being rude in SF, considering most of SF originally came from the NE. There are people who love the cold and it gets cold hear without question. It is whether you prefer to deal with 5 months of cold or 5 months of hot. I personally think that I would prefer the hot weather.

Chelsea1075- Although I really don't like it down here, you can't beat the weather - particulary now in the "winter". We get cold snaps, but they only last a short time and then it is back to the bright sun and warm days. Really nice. The heat and humidity are pretty intense but they only last for 6 months of the year and everyone has A/C so you are comfortable just about everywhere you go. You may want to consider looking at working for some of the local governments. The City of Fort Lauderdale is one of those agencies that pays well and usually has openings for good professionals. Also the Federal Government has some openings (IRS is a large one) and the Federal Courthouse.

The deciding factor will be whether I get a job in Miami or Boca. I have to search that out first. But at least I know now that Weston is a great place to live.

Actually Weston is OK for commuting to either Boca or Miami. And far enough from both.

My neighbor commutes to Boca every day. Many friends neighbors commute to various parts of Miami. Commuting to the West side of Miami (Doral area) is easier than downtown, I used to commute to Doral every day for 3 years.

I even used to commute from Weston to Delray. It seemed OK back then.

I wish Weston were closer to the beach.

But on the other hand, areas closer to the beach have mandatory evacuation during hurricane warnings. We in Weston just batten the hatches and greet them hurricanes in the comfort of our own homes. Plus most cables in Weston are buried under ground, so our TVs/DSL/Phone/Electricity tend to stay up better in bad weather.

You all noobs, please try to stay out of the left lane. Or if you do, maintain decent speed (speed limits on major highways are 65 or 70 mph here, and you know what that means). And we will be friends.
