I loved Coral Springs, I thought it was a little better suited for working class than Parkland which also has great everything, but I didn't get a warm fuzzy feeling from the people in Parkland, but that could just have been my experience.

You could live in a good neighboorhood and have a BAD area just a few streets away. The people are rude and nasty at best. We do have a lot of bugs(Palmetto bugs, ect) but most communtities include pest control w/ your maintanance. Maintanance/HOA fees can be quite high so you have to budget that. Parkland is your best bet in Broward County. Good luck to you in your search. To the poster mentioning St. Thomas Aquinas High, I graduated from there and had a great experience. It is expensive but you are really prepared for college. Plus they don't take ANY bad behavior. You act out, have drugs on you, are disrespectful, they don't hesitate to kick you out! I think this is great as there is much less b.s. to deal with , you can concentrate on school. And as far as drugs, it is So. Fla. drugs are unfortunatly everywhere. At least private schools will kick those kids out. Take care, lil red
Can you explain what so-called "high-crime areas" are near Parkland? Parkland is right near Boca Raton and Coral Springs which are not what any reasonable person would consider "high-crime".

Well does anyone have anything to say specifically about Cypress Pointe or Heron Bay? We're looking at these two communities and they seem really nice. My concern is the HOA. Can the maintenance costs sky rocket as the number of units become vacant? Is there a way of telling how "empty" a community is?

I have to tell you that I haved looked at homes all over Coral Springs and while Heron Bay was beautiful, I thought it was a little overrated - I thought the people were somewhat snobby, but that is just my opinion. I really really like Wyndham Lakes - I thougth it was full of much nicer people.

I grew up in Ft. Lauderdale moved to Parkland during middle and high school and now Im back in Ft. Lauderdale. I can honestly say that if your looking for an area of Florida to enjoy a few times a year with your family Ft. Laud is more enjoyable than out west. The weather is nicer (ocean breeze) the beah area is fantastic. It is not a far drive to Boca, Parkland, Coral Springs or any place out west (about 20/25 minutes) and there is easy means of transportation! The school system in Parkland is great and it is a safe and relatively quiet area to live in!

I noticed that Boynton Beach prices are very reasonable. Any thoughts on that?
