Default Relocating To Fort Lauderdale Area

My family is considering relocating to the Fort Lauderdale area and wanted to know what area's are recommended for families with teenagers.
I have recently read about alot of burglaries in the Victoria Park area and wanted to know if that is a safe area to live in.

Smile Changing 4 The Better!!!

My inlaws have lived in Victoria Park for the last 5 plus years...when we first started visiting them...we would not leave the rental car parked in the street overnight with anything in it other than air......but 5 years later the area has made a favorable come back...the schools could be a problem...but I would visit the school system before buying to see if it where you want to be...

You might want to pick up a book on relocating...no matter which one you buy...they will tell you to RENT - RENT - RENT - before you buy...

And I will tell you the same - rent before you buy. We have been here for many years.

When looking at communities that are family oriented, you will see:
- Cooper City
- Weston
- Plantation
- Coral Springs
- Miramar
- Parkland

There are other areas and much will depend on your job location, your commute and/or desired commute, your children and family requirements. I live in Weston which is just due west of downtown Fort Lauderdale. We have many houses available thanks to the economy and housing crisis - it s a buyers market. Do rent first and get acquainted with the area.

Rusty I had a few more questions about Victoria Park. Since you have experience of being there would you consider living there even if you rented a house as you have suggested. Has you in laws felt more comfortable living there lately and would it be a safe place to raise a teenage daughter based on what you or you in laws know about the area.

I do wish you luck in your dreams for you and the kids and hubby. And if you have a spare room to rent when you come down to Fort Lauderdale, I might be interested. My previous landladies all liked me! I always put a smile on their faces, they tell me.

I'm sure you did! I would love to meet up and they say it is hard to find friends when you move. Pff, you just have to know where to go to meet them.
