I'm an RN & moved from NYC to Miami 2 years ago. Yikes did I take a huge pay cut (about 25K)!!!!Nursing is not as progressive as it is up north & unfortunately I have been disappointed by the nursing profession here. However, there are plenty of jobs here and enjoying great weather is a sacrifice I made. I suggest working at a Magnet hospital either at Baptist Health or Memorial Regional if interested in Miami or Broward. There are very few areas with excellent public schools so be careful which district you live in if you cannot afford private schools.

Boca Raton is also a great coastal community in S. Fla. It is safe, clean, and attractive. There are great beaches in Boca and nearby in Delray Beach and Deerfield Beach.

Great info here! My family is relocating from Phoenix, AZ with 2 girls (4th and 6th grade in the fall). We want to rent a 3 or 4 bedroom house/condo in the Coral Springs or Parkland area. What are the best middle and high schools in that area? I really want to narrow my search based on the top schools. I've looked at the Broward website and there are alot of A schools. I'm finding it difficult ot find out which schools feed into which high schools. Eventually we will buy but want to rent first to get the lay of the land. Ideally we want to rent in the area we will buy so we won't have to move the kids around.

I think Douglas is rated the best, but of course it has its share of problems. Search the 33076 zip code when looking for an apartment, you basically can't go wrong with that area! The 33071 area of Coral Springs is also nice, but the High schools for that area are JP Taravella and Coral Glades. Both Highschools are A rated, but I think that Douglas is still better. There are some really great private schools as well that you may want to consider, if you can afford it.

I know Stoneman Douglas HS and Monarch HS (for Parkland and Coconut Creek) are highly ranked and are both good schools. I have a bunch of friends that went to both and liked it. The public schools in Coral Springs are JP Taravella HS, Coral Glades HS, and Coral Springs HS.
