Default Relocating to Ft. Lauderdale for Grad School need some help finding a safe area to live

Hey guys,

I am new to this forum and I have been looking intently at the all post about Ft. Lauderdale trying to find the best, safe place to live in Ft. Lauderdale. Well my story is I am going to medical school this coming August and I wanted to find a place to live near the school. Within 20 minutes or less of the school is something I preferred. I been looking at Pembroke Pines. I found a condo located on the intersection b/w nw sheridan st. and brian piccolo park and another condo located near washington st. and s. hiatus road. Is this locations okay to relocate to? Also if you all have any other suggestions on where I should live that would be great!!!

Thanks

Are you going to Nova? If so, you might find better choices closer to the school north of 595 on Pine Island, or University Drives in Plantation, and have less of a commute.

The advantage of being closer to the universities area is that real estate is already set up to host a number of students and their families, so you may find what you need and within you price range more easily. You will be unlikely to be able to walk to school, but it would be nice to avoid central Broward County rush hour traffic: it can be really nasty on University Drivea and on and off the highway ramps.

Yes I will be going to Nova this coming Fall.

Thanks I'll look in that area for some condos. Also are those areas safe counties to live in?

Thanks I was considering buying near the highway about 20 minutes from the school. I'll look closer to the school.

Washington and Hiatus is a so so neighborhood. Sheridan near Brian Piccolo is nice in pembroke pines. I wouldnt jump to living right next to the school since everything in broward county is within 20 minutes drive for each other. dont limit yourself to a narrow search. In my opinion the safe area within 10 min drive from Nova would be:
Pembroke Pines, Cooper City, Soouthwest ranches, Sunshine Ranches, some parts of davie, and of course Weston. Weston and cooper city is mainly off a highway. The other areas are somewhat expenses but you can see the difference. I lived in pembroke pines and loved it. Lots of police patroling to make you feel secure, and crime rate isnt too high compared to surrounding areas. Davie isnt badas long as your west of davie rd extension. and north of stirling.

Look just to the north of 595 on Pine Island Rd. There are some developments called Jacaranda Lakes, or have the name Jacaranda. There are apartments and homes and the area is very safe. Pembroke Pines is ok too, but is further away from Nova. Also, look in the surrounding areas of Nova because there are many apartment communities.

I live about 5 mins from Nova and there are several options within 10-15 mins... I would suggest something west of University (although a couple of smaller development next to Nova are nice as well). You can certainly find something in Davie or Plantation. We are currently living in Davie at Arrowhead which is located at University just south of I-595. Before we lived in Pine Island Ridge area which is located south of 595 just Pine Island Rd.

So basically I suggest something in Davie or Plantation..

thanks for the info

i am looking in pembroke pines mostly, from what i have researched on the area this seems like the best bet. I found a condo in the reflections in pembroke pines and it seems really good.

ill look into that area more, but im really liking pembroke pines. most of the apartments within walking to 5 minutes from the school are way too expensive, so i think relocating to a neighboring county would be cheaper and safer overall.
