There actually won't be much traffic at all on the way to Medley no matter which community you choose, assuming you are willing to pay tolls. All you have to do is take I-75 to the turnpike extension, and get off at 27. It's indirect compared to the congested Palmetto Exwy, but thats a 70+ mph commute. The only traffic on I-75 (aside from accidents) is a slight bottleneck (slows to around 45-50 mph) around Miramar Pkwy that only occurs on some afternoons. It wouldn't take more than 40 minutes from Weston even at the absolute peak of rush hour.

Like I said, Cooper City is also worth checking out as well. Don't discount it, it's a little further south than both and also known for excellent schools. Unlike Weston and Parkland, it's also known for being fairly down-to-earth.

Compelled--what about the commute from Parkland to Medley? (He'll be working for BE Aerospace if you know where that is?) DH said he would be taking the Sawgrass Expressway to I 75. How's this traffic? (we don't care about tolls). TIA!

Compelled--as far as Cooper City, I heard it's a bit rednecky/farmy? Is this true? Not looking for that kind of town really.

No, that's Davie. Cooper City is actually very Jewish and somewhat dense, but yes it does pick up a little bit of the "country" atmosphere from surrounding areas, but in a nice way. More non-HOA communities/tree lined streets and less gated communities, although there are a couple of them like Embassy Lakes.

It would be the same as the commute from Weston, + 20-30 minutes. Not at all worth it though IMO.

If the schools are great it is worth it to us though..... Weston is still an option though. I don't know much about the schools in Cooper City but will research.

They are ranked just as high, except they aren't overcrowded like Weston and Parkland schools. Parkland is a great place to be but more if you are commuting to Ft. Lauderdale.

Frankly, Cooper City is flanked on two sides by Davie and I can't tell when I leave Davie to the west or re-enter it again to the east. All the neighborhoods run into each other (outside of Weston or Parkland which were developed as cities). Other than these run-on cities (ie Davie/Cooper City), you really can only distinguish neighborhoods by development names as in the case of Embassy Lakes. Also the red neck reputation Davie has is out-dated to way before there were developments,

I think Cooper City would be a MUCH better choice than Parkland becoz of the commute issue. Schools are known to be great in Cooper City.

Let me add, I was talking to a 16 yr old who co-coaches our cheerleading squad and spoke to her mom as well, they lived in Coral Springs, she recommened West Boca or Parkland as well, they all miss is so much and wish they could go back yes even from NC...lol....anyway, if schools are a high priority, as it is to us since we have a son going into High School, and a daughter going into 4th, from our research we found West Boca to fit our needs...we are making a trip down in April and cant wait...Im just putting it out there because u mentioned Parkland...

^^ I like West Boca but a Palm Beach to Miami commute would be miserable.
