Very interesting about the indy music scene of Southern Florida.

JProg305 is on a distinguished road
Hey TigerBeer, I've definitely heard the Spam All Stars and I think I've heard OF Awesome New Republic. Some of those other acts sound promising. Miami and Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood have always had an indie scene, it's just small compared to other regions like Austin, Portland, Minneapolis, etc. South Florida has a large indie fan base that listens to a diverse range of genres (everything from emo-core and punk to ambient dub, latin funk fusion, gypsy jazz, dub and electro/ambient dub, IDM, etc.). That article is pretty illuminating and I like that there's finally some attention being paid to the variety of music and art in the greater south Florida area rather than just the same old Trick Daddy, Trina, Rick Ross, Flo Rida, etc. I've been going to Churchill's for years. It's certainly a diamond in the rough for Miami. Good jazz, spoken word, and other types of shows. I wish there was more venues for underground/indie hip hop and turntablism that didn't cater to the dirty south crowd. Also, I wish there was more of a live blues scene in Miami but what are you gonna do? Good post.

Are there some good radio stations to catch indy music....for example, college radio? Something that is easy to pick up on the radio when in Southern Florida?

You can try FIU (Radiate FM 95.3) and UM (WVUM 90.5) radio stations.
