If South Florida becomes a state, what should the official language be?
Even though it is about 8 months old, I read the article about S FL wanting to become it's own state on sun-sentinel.com. I forgot all about that, it's kinda funny.
Anyhow, the question was asked (not suprisingly) if S FL became it's own state, what would the official language be? About 65% said English, followed by Spanish and Creole I believe.
What do you think the official language should be, IF South FL had become it's own state?

I am Cuban (and very proud of my roots), but S. Florida (if it were to become a state) would still belong to the United States of America, and thus English would still be the official language.
Now if it because another country, then that's up for debate.

Personally, I would love it if Spanish were the official language of So Flo. It would force me to get off my butt and actually start learning it like I should have years ago.

South America, Central America and the Caribbean are also part of America, Columbus - a Genoese who pursued the bulk of his career under the Portuguese, discovered America sailing for the Spanish, followed by other Portuguese, Spanish, French, Dutch, and English explorers.
Four European languages dominate in America, Spanish, Portuguese, French and English. And, believe it or not, at least up until 30 years ago, Italian was number five.
English is one of the bunch, so what? Languages, like everyone and everything else, come and go.
