Default We Are moving... to Plantation?

Now that the Marlins stadium is through, we will be moving around the 1st of July. We are now expecting kid #3 as well. We are looking at apartments in Plantation to start with. I have seen a couple that look good on paper St Tropez at Plantation and Camden Plantation. Any one know how these places are? I want to stay in Fox Trails or Central Park elementary areas. Anybody know of other complexes in this area?
Any help would be great. Thanks!

I don't know about the complexes you are looking at, but I know that there are many nice apartment complexes in the area zoned for Central Park Elementary. That tends to be a nice area. We lived there when we first moved to FL, but the complex we lived in was converted to condos since then. We lived on Cleary Blvd between Hiatus and Nob Hill. It was walking distance to Central Park Elementary. I wonder if there are any rentals available in that complex.

On the map, the complex I like looks to be off Cleary between Nob Hills Rd and Pine Island.

You will be fine in that area. It's safe and centrally located.

'Safe' is subjective. I have a friend that works at Plantation Police and I've worked in Law Enforcement for 29 years. Property crime in Plantation is high, especially in apartment developments were there are unknown people walking around. One doesn't know who is a resident and who isn't a criminal looking for opportunity to burglarize a car, or an apartment. Make sure you leave nothing of value in your car and hide your jewelry, cash, other high end items. A safe deposit box is best. Wear little expensive jewelry on your person. Make sure your doors and windows are always locked, even if you're walking outside just for a moment. These are just common sense tips that would minimize your loss if you were to be the victim of a crime and is suggested to everyone, not just apartment dwellers.

Plantation is mostly fine to walk around, but as the above poster said, there traditionally have been a lot of burglaries in the apartment complexes as well as many of the residential neighborhoods. The rate of property crime is still closer to average than high, but average means you should take precautions like those mentioned above. There is nothing to be scared of around there, though.

When I think safe, I think the physical safety of the person. Most areas in Broward are subject to a fairly high level of property crime.

Default Townhouse Plantation

We own a townhouse in the Colonnades which is a community on Cleary between Pine Island and Nob Hill. We lived there until I had to move to Miami for work. We really enjoyed the Plantation area and with a child on the way liked the fact we were in the central park elementary zone. We have it rented out currently until the end of July, but would be interested in selling the property or renting it again. Please contact me if you are interested. mageeee@aol.com
