That is because of a minority candidate and the lousy economic conditions in FL. But traditionally, those are conservative counties with conservative mindsets.

Did you forget about Palm Beach County?
There is something like 100k more registered Democrats in PBC than Republicans.
Nonetheless, the typical "blue" counties in Florida (for presidential election cycles) tend to be: Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, St. Lucie, Leon, Liberty
Broward is probably the most liberal, but it isn't the one and only.

Interesting list!
I just looked up Liberty County on wikipeida...says its one of 5 dry counties in Florida...and looks real rural. Any reason you'd guess why it would go blue?

IMO even if Orlando has aspects of being gay friendly it's not worth the trade offs of living there. FLL is definitely friendly in fact it's gay promotional in terms of attracting gay trade and residents. I'd suggest you contact gay realtors in FLL for the real deal. Maybe someone here knows who, I met a couple who do gay friendly real estate but forget their names and I'm sure there are several. Not especially to get a property but to find out what the life is like in FLL. I don't believe Orlando to be friendly enough to confidently walk around holding hands everywhere like you could in FLL. As a mom, I'd recommend against that.

I'm sorry, I meant Gadsden County, which is right next door to Tallahassee (Leon), along with Liberty County, which is a conservative county.

Only around "Gay Days" in Orlando have I ever seen same sex hand holding. Even then, it's in and around downtown disney area, where the convention, etc. takes place.
Fort Lauderdale and South Beach have unofficial "gay sections" of their beaches, evidenced and marked by the rainbow flag.

Agreed. Miami and Fort Lauderdale are definitely the most gay-friendly places in Florida, and there are definitely a lot of gay couples and families here especially in the Upper East Side, South Beach, Coconut Grove and Wilton Manors.

Gee, how generous of them to "allow" that.
Surprisingly, although the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale metro area has a higher number of people who identify as gay, lesbian, or bisexual, the Tampa and Orlando metro areas have a higher percentage of people who identify as such.
