22 and looking to move to Ft Lauderdale area. (Miami, Fort Lauderdale: apartment complexes, for rent)

Hey,
I just turned 22 and currently living in NY, a close friend and I are looking for a change and recently visited southbeach loved it and are looking into moving down to the area. Southbeach is to expensive for us and Miami just isnt what were looking for so were thinking about Fort Lauderdale. We want to be in a busy area with good nightlife and oppertunity for two young guys to make money and have some fun. I have found a few very nice two bedroom apartments that are within our budget of about 1400 at the most for rent. But im not really sure what areas we should be looking in. We are both good looking and outgoing people and have been bartending for a little over a year so we figured we would do the same down there so we'd like to live in a area where the nightlife is good. Any info you can share would be a huge help.

Have you moved yet? The whole area... Ft.Lauderdale on down should be easy for you to find a quick bartending gig until something better comes along. But really, people in the service industry make about the same as entry-mid level professionals so it really doesnt' matter.

Everything is within an hour to eachother..Ft.Laud to Miami, etc. You'll enjoy it.

Nope, havent made the move yet. Right now were looking in the downtown Ft. Lauderdale area. Around Los Olas blvd. i also found a nice place in North lauderdale.

I'd suggest you look into apartments in Downtown Fort Lauderdale perhaps, in and around Las Olas. Hollywood is also really nice, with lots of restaurants and bars that are popular and in an urban environment. In case you look into Miami again, I'd suggest you see Downtown Miami or perhaps Midtown, as both are across Biscayne Bay from South Beach, and cheaper. Best of luck!

Check out Port Royale in the NE part of town. Just stay close to Federal Highway (US-1) and you'll be the happiest. Downtown FTL would be alright too for you if you like to go out.

What do people know about Palm Aire, my family had a place there years ago, I know it's safe
and the prices seem decent....

Curious to know why you stated Wilton Manors... I don't see any mention of them being gay...... They probably would have asked that type question in their original post.
