And someone here mentioned that there is none of this anymore ? I feel sorry for this kid who is riding around Davie with this in the back of his pickup truck....one day some African American kids are gonna get pissed off, follow him and beat the crap out of him. This is just ASKING for trouble in my opinion

LOL, never. This post was meant to get people fired up, whether for or against. I dont agree with the flag if it stand for slavery. But what exactly the flag means is as clear as mud.
I like black people, love sports like basketball, and other black-dominated sports. My favorite b-ball player was MJ; I also love good hip-hop.
I wouldn't have a rebel flag on my truck, but I dont mind it if what it means is what I think it to mean. I dont think it resembles/signifies what others' THINK it does. I know people that love their southern heritage, doesnt mean they dont like black people.

I understand exactly where you are coming from. While that kid riding around all over Davie with that flad in the back of his truck is just proud of his southern heritage, what he may not realize is how others believe the flag represents. For many it's slavery and oppression. Again, that thought may never cross his mind....but all you need is one pissed off black person and he will be marked. And just like the white kid thinks something else about what the flag represents, so does the black kid. And even though the black kid may not realize the white kid is only flying it around because of the whole Southern thing, he will think the white kid is a racist. And that is where the problems begin....people start miscontruing each others expression and someone gets hurt.
My question is where the HECK is the mother?? How the hell can she alllow her kid to ride around with a flag like this. Thats like me walking around with white hood on my head IMO. Trouble trouble trouble. Bad parenting is all I can say.

I never said it was a bright idea, lol. I wouldnt do it, whether I wanted to fly the flag or not, just because of the crazy people out there. Moderator cut: offensive My point is, the actual flag isnt hurting anybody. It's what it could stand for.

So do I have a problem with a rebel flag, no, not really. But I dont think it's a good idea because it can provoke.

I lived in Plantation for a few years and there was a family right around the corner from us with a Rebel Flag on his pick up truck. So it isn't just Davie.

what it "could" stand for? Isn't about loving southern values as they were pre civil war? Which in turn comes with slavery and subjugation of humans?

Actually, no.
While I think the confederate flag is stupid and that the civil war is over, the fact is that if you ever actually speak to "Southern Pride" types, it has nothing to do with slavery or black people.
I used to associate the confederate flag with "racists" as well, but having gotten to know people who were "Southern Pride," it really is all about culture, rebellious spirit against Northern uppittiness, etc. Many black people might think it's "about them" to fly a confederate flag, but most Confederate sympathizers (and some black nationalists) will swear up and down that the Civil War had nothing to do with slavery, or that slavery was only an ancillary issue.
