Default which location near Ft Lauderdale to buy home?

We are relocating to the Ft Lauderdale areas and because of work in the Pembroke Pines area, we have been looking at Pembroke Pines and Miramar areas. We do not want to commute on highly congested highways to access the beach areas. Because of friends, we also have been looking in Dania. We live near Ft Myers at an 8 foot sea elevation and so far, have not found much in Dania or Pembroke above 6 feet (according to FEMA/FIRM maps). Our main concern is flooding we might have in these neighborhoods expecially if we live near a lake or canal. I have found some data that flooding has occurred to some residences but nothing significant about flooding potentials.
I think that there is a controversy about "seas rising" in the immediate future so this does not concern me...I just want to avoid flooding as is a potential now. Any ideas on relocating would be appreciated.

Don't worry about flooding. I have never seen an area with as good of a drainage system as this. After Wilma the puddles on my street were literally drained in about an hour. The main soft spots are Wilton Manors and parts of Davie. Drainage in Pembroke Pines and Miramar as well as most of the other western communities is excellent. Those lakes and canals are actually THERE to prevent flooding and really are effective. I would avoid living Dania Beach however, not because of the flooding but because it's a strange place and getting far from work.
