Actually the 450K comment came in reference to her question on its location after my facetious Surfside is the slum comment, before I thought of her living there...I also, maybe mistakenly, thought she was looking for a rental - possibly in a large apartment, which might be comparable in price to the areas she's considering.

I wouldn't say Surfside is the slum but it isn't that nice either.

Nah, there's a lot of us in West Boca - I'm not in West Boca, but I identify as being "from Boca" since I moved there in 1979 and lived there most of the time since then (before that I was on Crocus Terrace in beautiful Hollywood)

I'd move back there in a heartbeat if we found a great foreclosure deal, and DH didn't work in Plantation.

Yes, we're not talking Weston shininess - they are 50's-70's houses all within walking distance to the beach, and you have to like terrazzo, but "not nice," - how do you mean?

yeah, but it would be hard to deny Boca is nice with all that Mizner Park development. It could be, and I think I'm getting to it, rather than a jewish thing, that it may be a bias towards new, rather than old. As a jew, I think I can attest to this: we won't live anywhere that's not "nice!"

It's an ugly neighborhood (IMO). Not a ghetto but just run down looking.

surfside from what I saw looks run down. Not ugly, just rundown. You can have older homes and the place still look nice (just look at Victoria park, colee bend and other older areas) but those areas have been kept up. It doesn't look like a disaster zone though.
