As bocamom said, I interpreted her statement as a motivation and inspiration to be responsible to our environment and ourselves. I did not see it as a negative.

I hope you didn't think I did...if that was even implied, I am truly sorry, I have nothing but respect and admiration for Bocamom for so beautifully articulating real concerns for SoFL.

I moved from South Fl 11 mo ago, I couldn't wait to get out of there. I bad mouthed it constantly.
I have been living in San Antonio Tx for the last year.
I miss beaches, I miss palm trees, green grass, beautiful women, night life, Miami Heat, Miami Hurricanes, Miami Dolphins, 7-11, Dunkin Donuts, Laspadas, Pollo Tropical, being able to use a horn without getting the middle finger, I miss speeding in FL (everyone drives slow here). I also miss rain...
Moderator cut: offensiveI do not miss the old people either.
Moving to Texas was a great idea, and allowed me to venture out, see the world a little more. I've learned to appreciate everything I've taken for granted in FL.
When am I moving back, hopefully 2 more months.
The grass is not always greener, especially when it's only rained 5 times since I have been here.

I miss the smell of the ocean, the multi-culturalism and the pace.

Moved 10 yrs ago to NE FL from Laud., only thing we miss is the remaining friends down there and easy access to the Keys. The congestion, the rushing everywhere and concrete jungle we got so tired of and it's only gotten worse.
We now enjoy the 4 seasons and nature all around along with keeping most of the same amenities including the lizards, Publix, Walgreens, still tropical up this way and oh those wonderful thunderstorms, especially lately.

Ha Ha you are right. Four seasons yes, just not as cold as way up north and NO SNOW. The hibiscus will freeze but once trimmed, come back gorgeous as ever. Certain palms do grow and thrive up this way but do miss the beautiful coconut palms, what's left of them anyways.
