Default West Pines/West Miramar in Los Angeles?

Hey guys...

I was just wondering if anyone's familiar with L.A? I was born there although I'm a typical Hispanic-American Miami kid through and though (I've lived in Hialeah (quebolaaa?! lol), Pines, and now West Miramar). Anyways I just graduated from college and I'm considering moving to L.A since there's a possibility that I might get hooked up with a pretty sweet corporate type job out there through a Japanese friend of my dads in the auto industry. So I thought I'd research a bit... I love Pines and Miramar and the whole laid back-ness of it all, it's quiet, and pretty safe. What neighborhoods in L.A would be similar? Extra points if the neighboorhood is known for inhabitants similar to Rachel Bilson and Mischa Barton running around.

lol Just kidding (little OC humor, everyone says I'm like Seth Cohen!).

Thanks guys

Hey guys,

Thanks for taking an interest in my situation... By the way, sorry for taking so long to answer as I haven't frequented the forums in a long time.

Anyways just to elaborate, apparently the job is located in either Ontario or Mira Loma. There's 2 locations. So I could be at either. Like I said I live in West Miramar/West Pines in Florida, so any places around there similar to those would be awesome. The only thing I've noticed is that Ontario and Mira Loma are pretty far from the center of L.A...

Which is a bit worrying since I'm 23 and just graduated from College here in Miami so I'd like to be able to hang out at all the cool "L.A" spots every now and then without having to pack any bags. lol

Here in Miami, I'm about 30 miles (about 45, 1 h4 with traffic) from Miami Beach/South Beach and all that jazz. I actually don't really go there too much (incredibly to many people I've met), since I'm not much of a club person, but I do occasionally venture out to have a night out with friends, dinner etc. Coral Gables too. Mostly though I pretty much stick to Miramar, Pines and just hangout with friends locally, catch movies, have dinners at home, soccer etc.

However, I've noticed Rancho Cucamonga is nearby so I think I'll definitely check it out, compelled to reply!

The other thing I'm kind of worried about is that I know absolutely no one in L.A. Well, except for my grandpa (he lives in Studio City). And he's this really weird, older ladies man type dude. In Miami, most of my friends I've known since pretty much middle school. I'm just a tiny bit of an introvert so I'm kind of worried about making new friends over there, especially since its definitely going to be different to what I'm used to (totally new friends vs. people I've known for forever). So I hope I can find a place with lots of cool, interesting, young people to meet.

Thanks for the help guys.

(I will be reposting this in the L.A boards as well, as you suggested, trekker)

Both Ontario and Mira Loma are in the Inland Empire, and are a pretty long drive to all of the "hip" places in West LA, Hollywood, and coastal Orange County.

Nice, suburban places (lots of tract housing and "laid back" like PP and West Miramar) near to the potential locations of your job are:

-Claremont: lots of young people (due to Pomona College being there), an older community so not as cookie-cutter and new as SW Broward
-Chino/Chino Hills: basically a hilly/mountainview version of PP/West Miramar but with a lot more Asians and some Mexicans
-Rancho Cucamonga: kind of like Chino/Chino Hills but more flat/less hilly.

A big ditto from me! We were just in Claremont - son goes to Pomona, Crisp...there are also 4 other colleges adjacent - Harvey Mudd, Scripps, Pitzer & Claremont McKenna. There are also 2 grad schools - Keck & Claremont. All in all there are about 7,000 young people that haunt that town. It's a lot more 'adorable' than Rancho Cucamonga with lots of Victorian and Craftsman houses plus a really, really nice downtown. Ranch Cucamonga is more typical suburban. Didnt make it to Chino, so cant comment there.
