Tell me about Davie (Plantation, Weston: homes, neighborhood, middle schools)

I like what I'm seeing in terms of land in Davie (I'd like an acre). I have a few questions:

What is West Davie? Is there a zip code(s) associated with it so I know. This seems to be the area I should look at, according to this site.

Western is the high school and I haven't heard great things about it... are there other options (public or private)? The elementary schools seem good. What about the middle schools?

What is Davie like in general? What kind of people live there?

We are moving from California with 2 young boys and I'm trying to get a sense of where to look when we arrive next month.

West Davie = 33325. I always have heard good things about Western high. It's an A rated high school if I am not mistaken.

Anyhow...good luck. West Davie is a nice place to live and a great location.

The parts of Davie you would be interested in are either in 33325 or 33330. I personally went to Western and came out fine, think the biggest issue there is the decaying building. The middle school is Indian Ridge which is one of the best.

If I am not mistaken, Western dropped to a "C" this past year and Cypress Bay to a "B".
My son went to Western this past year due to the size cap at Cypress Bay. He was in Honors courses so things were fine. There is a brand new science wing and two more new buildings going up, I think. Also, they are redoing the cafeteria. My son thought the school was fine and met some very nice kids.

There are many private schools in and around Davie. The most mentioned seem to be American Heritage and Sagemont. There are a lot of posters on here who will help you with that. I haven't heard anything bad about the western Davie elementary or middle schools. Some Davie areas could be zoned for Weston schools. If you go to the Broward County school site;www.browardschools.com you might get more info on the public schools in the area you are looking. Greatschools.net can give you some info also.

you had better like country western if you move to Davie. I hate country western, but I do like Davie alot, especially west davie. You'll be fine there.

Don't forget about University School at Nova Southeastern in Davie FL. It's an incredible private school from PK - 12 at the Nova Campus at Davie.

Western Davie is a great place to live and no, I don't really know anyone in my neighborhood that is into country western! So many different types of people too. Check 33330 when you are looking for homes.
