Palm Aire (rentals, condo, gated community)

I know there are many areas/sections of Palm Aire, and there
seem to be some good deals down there on condo rentals.
I understand it's a safe, patrolled area, is this true? I see some
good deals in Palm Aire Gardens, is it truly a gated community? Safe?
My family used to have a place in Palm Aire proper, so I wanted to know
if the Gardens were safe too. I know in recent years they have revitalized
the area with a Publix and what not. Is Palm Aire what it's cracked up
to be? I hear the main area of Pompano in that area to avoid is up near
Atlantic...all true? Thanks...
