Default affordable and interesting area midway between sunrise and lake worth

i have family in ft lauderdale (sunrise) and west palm beach (lake worth)...originally i was planning to move to sunrise because that is closer to family that is more available (I am ill and moving to be closer to family)...anyway.....i just found out that my sister's husband is really against our move because he feels it is going to be a big burden on his family

however.....my other family (mother in law) lives in lake worth in west palm beach...she is away alot and let's just say...she is willing to help but i can take her in small doses

anyway...since my bro in law is so against us being so close in sunrise, i am looking for a place midway between the 2 that is affordable....my hubby and i are 37 and 41 and no kids, 1 car between us and i am not well...we need something affordable...somewhere we can rent a small house or townhome...

i know boca raton is midway between but...it is way too expensive.....can anyone suggest any affordable cities that might put us halfway between family so as not to burden anyone but still have them close enough by (right now we live across the country in arizona all by ourselves with nooone even on the west coast ;(

Thanks so much

Boca is not as expensive as you think; between the turnpike and State Road 7. Along Lyons Rd is pretty much a middle class area that is not dissimilar to Sunrise. Coral Springs could also work.

What price range do you consider "affordable"?

Boynton and Delray are your bests bets with regards to area and affordability. Coconut Creek may also be an option.

The OP has an [understandable] fear of coming to Florida and living around mostly old people. Delray and Boynton aren't a good idea for that reason, and neither is most of Boca honestly. Most of the decent parts of Delray that are within the OPs price range are west of Congress Ave, which is a retiree-dominated area. On the bright side, you aren't far from downtown Delray, which is young and pretty cool. Boynton Beach, on the other hand, is kind of in a quasi-ghetto condition from US1 out to Military Trail, although west of there it gets much better and is a mix of older residents and younger families. You are also fairly far from most entertainment centers like downtown Delray, West Palm, etc. Coconut Creek, Coral Springs, and central-west Boca are probably the safest affordable areas with a younger population and a good location.

Unfortunately your affordable areas will be older communities, or areas that are not as safe as others may be.

i am embarrassed to say what affordable to us means...we went broke paying for my medical treatment...right now we pay under $1100 for a 1350 sq ft 2 bedroom corner townhome...which we KNOW we won't get near in florida.

we are going to end up in sunrise anyways because my parents have their condo their and even if my sister's husband does not want me there...it will be a huge help to have us close to my parents...so sunrise, davie...around there. they also seem more affordable than some of the other towns unless i am wrong

You won't have any problem finding that for 1200. You should check out the old Cooper City area, east of 100th Ave. You should also check out Pine Island Ridge in Davie. There are also plenty of 2 bedrooms around that price in the 84 South area of Sunrise, which adjoins Weston. Speaking of which, the Bonaventure area in Weston is also worth looking into. These are all consider desirable areas at almost any price point.
