Default What do you all think of Coconut Creek?

Just wondering what you all think about Coconut Creek, is there a lot of crime there? Would you recommend it to someone who is looking to rent for about a year or so?

I personally love Coconut Creek. My parents live in Winston Park and the area is very safe. Coconut Creek police are strict and patrol the northern area constantly. Part of Coconut Creek north of Sample rd is very upscale and even in the bad economy is thriving. South of Sample is not as nice but is still relatively safe and affordable. The only bad area is east of Lyons rd on Coconut Creek Pkwy where it borders Cracktown and becomes Pompano.

Coconut Creek is great, the cops seem to be a bit overzealous though. If you can get past the stink of the garbage dump it's a nice place.

I agree Cococnut Creek is a nice well kept area and they seem to be building plenty of new shopping and restaurants despite the recession .. it has only what I would consider a few undesirable areas mostly apartment complexes .

Although the undesirable areas do tend to be where there are high concentrations of renters, there are plenty of rentals to be found in almost all areas, and any place without a strict background check and/or security deposit should raise a red flag.

The landfill really isn't bad. I go to Tradewinds Park frequently and it's only when the wind is coming directly from the east AND it is hot out that I can smell an odor.

Not so much true these days, with all the foreclosures. Once-desirable homeowner-centric areas are now checkered and questionable. Such is life in South Florida these days.
