Default Preschools/Daycare in Ft Lauderdale

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Would anyone recommend any good preschools and/or daycares in the Ft Lauderdale area... Also, does Broward County have free daycare and preschool programs?

Default Vpk

We have VPK (Voluntary Pre-K) http://www.floridajobs.org/VPK/index.html for those who are 4 years old and going into Kindergarten the following school year. Not all schools offer it and thosee that do, have a wait list of some kind. Basically, you register with the state for a "coupon" that is worth approximately $2500 in pre K credit. Most schools that offer the VPK program only offer it for 3 hours per day. If you require extended hours of childcare you would then pay for that difference. I live in Weston, FL and one of the Elementary schools has offered the VPK program for the last 2 years. Only 18 children are admitted and I have heard VERY GOOD things about it. However, the understanding is that it is costing the school too much money and they are not participating for '07 - '08. Good luck!
