Post Elusive Arctic seal avoids capture in Tarpon River in Fort Lauderdale
Wow, this one made a wrong turn....

A dehydrated and emaciated bearded Arctic seal that has eluded rescue efforts along the Treasure Coast eluded capture again Monday afternoon as it headed east towards the New River, wildlife officials said.

The wayward animal was swimming in the Tarpon River, a picturesque, but narrow channel that winds its way through some of the oldest and most historic neigborhoods on the south side of the New River. The Tarpon River empties into the New River around Southeast 16 Avenue. The seal was last seen near where the Tarpon River crosses Federal Highway.

f the seal is captured it will be sent to SeaWorld in Orlando for treatment and feeding. There are plans to return the animal to its natural habitat in the Arctic thousands of miles away once it has recovered from its warm water ordeal.

they rescued the seal. the thing weighed 350 lbs, kinda chubby

unfortunately the seal died today, was undernourished and underweight at 350 lbs....supposed to weigh 600lbs
