If I was raising a family, I'd take Northern PBC anyday over Wellington or Weston. Jupiter and Palm Beach Gardens are nice areas and are close to the beach. The traffic is not bad at all in those parts. Wellington is too far west and the traffic and roads out there are a pain. It takes forever to travel east to West Palm or the ocean it seems like. And they just keep building and building like Broward County. Jupiter and PBG are growing, but it is more of a controlled and smart type of growth.

I agree with you on Wellington as although aesthetically a lovely place there are some safety issues ... I love the look and feel of North Palm Beach County and Southern Martin County ... but Weston is safe , upscale and a fine place to raise a family .... again I have always had my doubts about Wellington .

Aesthetically, Wellington isn't any better than Pembroke Pines.

The nicest areas of South Florida are not middle class; they are upper-income. Most of these areas are established (NOT new construction, NOT cookie-cutter architecture) neighborhoods in coastal Miami-Dade and Broward Counties, with a few in coastal Palm Beach County.

For established, middle class areas with lots of families, consider:
In Miami-Dade: Kendall/South Miami/Sunset, Miami Lakes, Virginia Gardens/Miami Springs
In Broward: Cooper City, Hollywood Hills, Pembroke Lakes, Coral Ridge (Fort Lauderdale)
In Palm Beach County: older parts of Boca Raton, especially east Boca Raton

If you want a newly-built (or fairly new) area of gated communities and lots of middle-class families, I would suggest:
Miami-Dade: The Hammocks, Country Walk, Doral
Broward: West Davie, Weston, parts of Pembroke Pines, Coral Springs
Palm Beach: Western Palm Beach County is full of affordable, new communities. Northern Palm Beach County really starts to feel like Central Florida more than South Florida. Less palms, more pines, less Latins/Northeasterners.
