We have some places that sell Cuban, Nicaraguan and Colombian food. Some places are better than others but in general they tend to put a lot of salt & carbs in their food.

Cuban bakeries tend to be very popular within the hispanic community but they are loaded with sugar. I don't like very sweet desserts, I find them repulsive, but those extra sweet desserts are very common in the American cuisine too. Don Pan, a Venezuelan chain is actually a better place as South American food is not loaded with sugars or syrups.
What I mean is the little whole in the walls that you would never take your boss to but certainly prefer them of cheesecake factory LOL - you know the places where you get - rice, beans, pernil and maduros for 6$. Are there any places like that? I hope so!

Anyway, re sweets - yuck - I'm with you on that - Argentineans (my husband and family are 100%) eat the sweetest crap! Dulce de Leche - I feel like cavaties are forming in my mouth thinking about it. it is pretty crazy!

Ruski,

I will have to try that Asada - my favorite right now is Colombian (I usually get a bandeja tipica - yum) - but we don't have many nicaraguan places here if any - I have certainly never heard of them. Are Parillada's popular there with all the Argentineans?

Yes we have a lot of those in Miami for $5-7. Most of them are Cuban(usually have a bakery too), Nicaraguan and Colombian(those 2 usually have a regular restaurant but do takeouts.

I also like Nicaraguan food, but you have to pick and choose the place as some places are dumps. The best way to pick a place is by seeing how many customers are there during lunch/dinner hours. That will tell you if the food is fresh & tasty and that's for any restaurant, not just Nicaraguan.

I've never taken anyone there who doesn't absolutely love it.

For sandwhiches, there is a famous cheesesteak place in hollywood that I can't remember the name of... but if you want to try THE sandwhich place, LaSpada's over at Lauderdale-by-the-Sea is my recommendation - look it up on Google maps or you'll never find it

Unfortunately I just don't remember any memorable places in the Hollywood/Dania area. Michaels Kitchen was great but they moved. For the most part the places are just kind of run of the mill.
I absolutely hate their pizza. If I were to explain the pizza to someone I would tell them if they were in any other restaurant and order a pizza like that, they would send it back. I hate biting into crust and having it crumble to bits and pieces, should be nice and soft with a crisp taste. So you found one person that's dislikes it..lol

3 very good pizza places:

Pepperoni Grill - Coral Springs
Pizza Time - Coral Springs
Big Anthony and Guido's - Coral Springs

I try to avoid little hole in the wall ethnic places, they always seem dirty and tend to always be listed for major violations with inspections.

You'd rather go to a hole in the wall place that you'd "never take your boss to" over a place like the Cheesecake Factory, which is reputable and you know what you're getting? I dont understand that logic at all. But Chelsa, you're still awesome in my book.

NY vs Chicago - everyone has preferences on every different type of pizza

For the most part, I wouldn't recommend against Anthony's simply because most people do like it. I'm not a big fan of soft doughy pizza at all, though I don't think Anthony's pizza's are "crunchy" at all... in fact, I hate the giant pieces of crust at the end of a pizza that take up half the slice of pie, and the fact that Anthony's tend to have sauce/cheese almost all the way to the edge is a huge plus for me.

I would rate Pizza Time (Coral Springs) as the absolute WORST pizza I've ever consumed, EVER, in my life. They are these thick, disgusting square pizzas that simply can't be taken seriously. It's like an inch thick of crust with lousy ingrediants on top.

Everyone knows best pizza is in Hew Haven, CT. Look up Sally's Apizza and Pepe's across the street from Sally's.

FWIW, I had a pretty good pizza the other weekend on the beach in Hollywood. It is a bit south of Johnson street. Next door to the Armenian Grill.

Oh, by the way, the Armenian Grill - awesome. I had a greek salad and lamb shishkebab and a Russian beer... nom-nom. Check it out if you are in the area.

Down here in FL, we've all heard time and time again how NY pizza is the best. Now that we all have that stored in our brains, you're telling me the best is in CT?!?
